Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would put her in America's eyes, into the class of child prodigies. For a young Irish girl with talented parents and extended family these characteristics were a naturally. Maureen entered this loving refuge in Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th of 1920. Her natural ability to perform was the perfect match for her interest in sport. As a result, she received almost all of the Feis Awards for acting and dramatic performances within her own country. Her acceptance at the Abbey Theater by age 14, and she was able to fulfill her goals of opera and classical singing and theater.
